Open Position: Project Architect/Manager

Michael Petrovick Archtects is a small firm with an entrepreneurial mindset. We’re looking for a project architect/manager with 10+ years of experience and strong design and Revit skills who wants an opportunity to make their mark! Join our team in either our north shore Massachusetts or southwest New Hampshire location—both beautiful areas to work, live, and play. Our future path includes a focus on sustainable design and continuing to expand our team of driven, detail-oriented, innovative, and collaborative designers. You will be stepping into a leadership role where you will mentor staff, guide projects through every stage, and lend your critical thinking skills to firm management decisions. With five weeks of PTO, a starting salary of $80,000 – $95,000, and half-day Fridays year-round, you will also be joining a firm that knows what work/life balance looks like.

MAIN ACTIVITIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

In the first several months, you can expect to:

  • Develop familiarity with the firm’s design and documentation standards, software, systems, and processes
  • Lead design and documentation for projects on the boards
  • Collaborate on projects with clients, consultants, and all members of the firm
  • Develop innovative and contextually responsive design concepts that align with client goals and project requirements.
  • Contribute to all phases of design, from initial concept, construction documentation, and construction administration.
  • Manage multiple projects concurrently, balancing creative vision with practical considerations such as budget, timeline, and constructability.
  • Engage directly with clients, stakeholders, and community members to present design ideas, gather feedback, and build consensus.
  • Conduct site analysis and research to inform design decisions, including ecological, cultural, and technical aspects.

Over time you will have opportunities to:

  • Lead firm-wide sustainability initiatives and staff development
  • Refine and create office standards and operational procedures to improve efficiency and quality and reduce costs
  • Mentor junior staff and participate in peer-to-peer knowledge sharing
  • Identify attractive and relevant opportunities and write compelling materials for qualifications statements and proposals, such as project scopes and work plans, fee and budget estimates, relevant related project experience, cover letters and correspondence, and any other documents to promote and win projects.
  • Engage in professional development and training that supports additional project and firm leadership opportunities
  • Contribute energy, ideas, and expertise that help the firm grow and evolve

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Ten years or more of professional architecture experience
  • An accredited professional architecture degree (B.Arch. or M.Arch)
  • Architect license preferred or within three years of hire
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong conceptual and schematic design skills
  • Collaborative mindset and demonstrated ability to lead project teams
  • Demonstrated experience leading the documentation and coordination of a minimum of 3 mid-size projects through all phases of design, including CA
  • Demonstrated commitment to sustainable design principles including technical detailing (LEED or other certification is a plus)
  • Familiarity with commercial and residential construction
  • Highly proficient in Revit, SketchUp, and Adobe Creative Suite (primarily Photoshop and InDesign)
  • Knowledge of and/or experience of code requirements related to project scope
  • Proficient in 3D visualization and graphics software is a plus

COMPENSATION

Salary range for this position is $80,000 to $95,000 depending on qualifications and experience.
