Join Our Growing Team as a Project Architect/Project Manager

MPA seeks a collaborative and leadership-oriented candidate with 8+ years of experience to join our growing firm in our Amesbury, MA, location. This position is a senior role that reports to the firm’s principal and helps drive the firm’s success. The role requires passion for architecture and dedication to making the world a better place through our work with the communities we serve. 

The ideal candidate has experience and a demonstrated interest in a variety of project types, a creative mindset, and the ability both to delegate work effectively and independently engage in production to move projects forward. 

Key Responsibilities

In the first several months, you can expect to:

  • Lead and collaborate with team members on projects.
  • Develop innovative and contextually responsive design concepts that align with client goals and project requirements and reflect the firm’s philosophy.
  • Lead all phases of design, from initial concept to construction documentation and construction administration.
  • Manage multiple projects concurrently, balancing creative vision with practical considerations such as budget, timeline, and constructability.
  • Engage directly with clients, stakeholders, and community members to present design ideas, gather feedback, and build consensus.

Over time, you will have opportunities to:

  • Influence and help shape the firm’s culture and direction.
  • Lead firm-wide sustainability initiatives and influence staff development.
  • Refine office standards and operational procedures to improve efficiency and quality.
  • Mentor junior staff and participate in peer-to-peer knowledge sharing.
  • Identify attractive and relevant opportunities and contribute to business development. 
  • Prioritize professional development to remain current with industry trends, materials, and technologies.

Qualifications

  • A NAAB-accredited degree in architecture is required  
  • 8+ years of professional experience in architecture is preferred 
  • High proficiency in Revit, SketchUp, Adobe Creative Suite (primarily Photoshop and InDesign), and Enscape (or other rendering software) 
  • Demonstrated leadership skills and experience 
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills with a collaborative mindset 
  • Familiarity with commercial and single-family construction 
  • Ability to think critically and make decisions 
  • Demonstrated experience leading the documentation and coordination of a minimum of three mid-size projects through all phases of design, including construction administration 
  • Commitment to the AIA Framework for Design Excellence and sustainable design principles 
  • Architecture license preferred or achieved within one year of hire 
  • LEED accreditation is preferred but not required 

Compensation

$75,000–$90,000 based on experience and qualifications.

Location

This position is based in our Amesbury, MA, office, with hybrid options available after the initial six-month period.
